A special anniversary in Cornwall

For our second anniversary my boyfriend wanted to do something different. After much discussion we decided to go camping in Cornwall. I’ve always enjoyed camping, when me and my sister were young our parent’s used to take us camping in the school holidays, we went everywhere, the lakes, the Pennines and even in Scotland. So it’s no surprise that I was looking forward to a romantic weekend away with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary camping in Cornwall.

After packing our rucksacks with a new tent and sleeping bags we had just bought from the local camping store, I couldn’t help but feel excited, just like when I was a little girl going camping with my family all those years ago.

The following day we boarded our train at Liverpool train station, it was an 8 hour train journey to Truro. Arriving just after 2 in the afternoon we got a taxi to a little seaside town called Perranporth. We had booked ourselves into holiday park called Perran Springs Holiday Park, which my boyfriend had pre booked on line the week before due to fact they only accept couples and families and so would be nice and quiet for our anniversary weekend.

We were greeted by a lovely lady at the reception she gave us quick tour of the park, she then showed us to our camping pitch which was quite spacious for our 2 man tent. We were too tired and hungry to put up our tent straight away, so we decided to have a little wander around our new home. It was just stunning with panoramic views of the Cornish country side, nature trails and lakes there seemed to be plenty to do with in park itself, the shower and toilet block was very impressive, it even had a place to put your makeup on too.

We then took a little stroll to a garden centre not too far away where we got some nice food’ arriving back at camp at around 7pm we decided to pitch our tent. James my boyfriend seemed to be doing a lot fumbling about and while we were pitching our tent he suddenly tapped me on the shoulder, dropped on one knee and asked me to marry him, there was a small applause from the tent next door to my embarrassment, but of course I said “yes”. He said he wanted to wait until we were having a romantic dinner but just couldn’t wait as he wanted spend the rest of the weekend as an engaged couple, I just burst into tears.

We had such a great weekend Camping in Cornwall, Perranporth is such a wonderful place and now I’m going to get married to the man of my dreams.
