It’s said that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, or so the famous song goes. And it certainly has a valid claim to be. Presents, goodwill to all men, classic Christmas hits, and treasured family time. But what about the case for the warm summer months?
Sunny weather seems to make people a lot more friendly and cheerful. People walk with a spring in their step, they smile more, in some cases they even talk to strangers! People seem to get that extra glow in their cheeks.
Who doesn’t love a good barbecue? Sitting in the garden munching on sausages, kebabs, burgers and chicken legs. Of course there’s stuff for the vegetarians too. There’s also something instantly satisfying about having produced an enjoyable barbecue. You’ve put in a lot of hard work making sure all the food is cooked just right and it makes you appreciate it just that little bit more. After all, barbecuing is an art form.
Outdoor drinking. A beer tastes that little bit better when sat in a pub garden. Or in any garden. It doesn’t even need to be an alcoholic drink, it could be a nice tall glass of orange juice or even just water.
Everything looks better. In the winter when it’s rainy and miserable, many places around the world look somewhat desolate and dreary. The summer sun makes everywhere look that little bit more welcoming.
While nothing beats a good Christmas jumper, from personal experience, one feels a lot better in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt than wrapped up in a coat and scarf.
There’s a whole host of sporting action to keep you entertained. There’s Wimbledon, the Tour De France, and every two or three years, the Ashes. Of course all the sport on TV makes us all feel like budding sportsmen and we all get on our bikes or dig out the cricket bats from the garden shed. Then, in my case at least, we remember we’re simply terrible.
It’s a great time to do outdoor activities. Camping, walking, playing sport, going for a picnic at the local park, no point being cooped up indoors when the weather is lovely. Furthermore, it’s the perfect time to get yourself fit. What better time to go for a nice leisurely jog than on a warm summer’s day.
If you’re a parent, the kids will be off school so it’s the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with them. Summer is a magical time for a child and you can help them to create some brilliant memories.
There are all sorts of ways to make your summer go with a bang at a discount price. Tennis equipment, wine and beer, toys for the kids and outdoor clothing are just the tip of the iceberg.
